I don't know if it is every room but the bathroom faucet handle was turned the wrong way & if you tried to wash your hands or face, the handle was in the way.
This one was actually in the way because if someone was headed to the bathroom & someone was at the sink it was awkward to get past them. The sink for the bathroom was outside of the bathroom. We had the 2 room suite which made it very nice & very comfortable. And of course there was no one at the front desk to check us out and ask how our stay was, because I’m sure they already know how bad of a product they’re selling. If I had paid $60 for a room I would be a little more forgiving, but at $180 I literally feel swindled after staying here. The “eggs”, potatoes, and sausage at breakfast were mostly cold and some of the worst I’ve seen. There was filth in the corners of the bathroom. The sink and shower wouldn’t drain correctly. The toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall. There were water leak marks on the ceiling. There was no hot water when we got there. The lobby is very nice, but is basically lipstick on a pig, because the rooms look like they haven’t been updated for 20+ years. Had it not been 7 pm when we got there after driving 12 hours I probably would have tried to find another option, but we were exhausted. Overall it was a bad experience and I’ll detail specifics below. I will say, the beds were reasonably comfortable but that’s where the good part ends. We’re a family of 5 so rooms that accommodate us are limited at times, and this was the only hotel I could find with a 3 bed suite available. I stay at Choice Hotels fairly often and typically have good experiences. Choice has some very nice other properties nearby. I was standing there looking at that & thinking about what was going on here & a hotel employee showed up & asked if I needed help. The breakfast area was halfway taken up with old ac units being stored. Coffee was available though but it was not drinkable. Our microwave didn’t work so we had to rush through MacDonald’s line & pay for breakfast in the end. What we got was a brown paper bag with a Jimmy Dean microwaveable croissant and a bar in it to eat in our room. With COVID we don’t expect to see make your own waffles. We expected a breakfast of yogurt, toast, bagel, cereal, coffee, juice. You don’t usually see an empty front desk at any Choice hotels. There was never anyone at the front desk when I was there at about 7 pm or 8 am or 8:45 am. The facility was very clean but a little bit used up. We needed a one night stay while we did some business in Cornelius.
